Set in the 1930s, this judgment and justice themed story is told by a rebellious 6-year-old girl nicknamed Scout, who lives with her elder brother Jem and her father Atticus who works as a lawyer, in Maycomb, a small town in Alabama. The judgment theme appears when the black-skinned Tom Robin is charged with the rape of a white woman named Mayella Ewell. Atticus becomes Robinson?s defense in the court room when the judge refuses to discharge Tom despite the apparent evidence that proves Tom?s innocence.
